Chino(VBM056) was First Seen on July 2005 joining the Balrog Mob. He had been born in a wild mob, his parents were probably the dominant pair, or a suborinate female who mated with a rover. His litter-mates were unknown and his exact age. At some point when he was an adult, he left his mob to go roving along with three other males. Chino joined the Balrog group along with three other males named Lause, Bengel and VBM059. The males kicked over the previous dominant male and only adult male in the group Stinker, who had joined the group five days before. The wild males started to compete for the right to be the dominant male. Chino was probably the oldest of the males and the biggest and strongest, so he established dominace over the other males. The dominant female Babbelas accepted him as her mate, however another female named Mussolini started to show signs of being pregnant and gave birth a few months later ti a successful litter. It is known who was the father, possibly ChinoOne of the males VBM029 was already heavily infected tuberculosis and soon died from disease a month later in August. The wild males had brought TB mostly like from her own former group. In October Babbelas gave birth to VBP064 however the pup was soon predated a month later. Babbelas quickly became pregnant again but lost her litter. Then Bengel and Lause started to show signs of disease along with several of the other Balrog members. The wild males wouldn't allow the researchers to get close so Bengel and Lasue could not be euthanised to prevent the spreading of the disease. Both Lasue and Bengel soon disappeared on December 17, 2005 heavily infected with tuberculosis. Chinco remained in the group as the dominant male and was the only adult male in the mob at the time. In February 2006, Babbelas died of TB and although Mussolini was older, another younger female named Priscilla became the dominant female and Chino's new mate. A month later Mussolini, Babbalina and Priscilla were pregnant however Mussolini and Babbalina lost their litters. Priscilla gave birth to VBF065 and Champ on April 16, 2006. Sadly one of the pups didn't survive. Chino started to show signs of disease along with Priscilla, Babbalina and a young adult male named Acer. All four meerkats died in August due to disease, Chino died on August 5, 2006.
